Hermione,<\/p>\n

What are you wearing?<\/em><\/p>\n

She frowned at the block-lettered text and turned it over. All right. An anonymous letter asking about her state of dress. Or undress. She looked at the owl and gave it a bit of bacon; after all, it wasn’t its<\/em> fault it was stuck delivering something so \u2026creepy. “Go back.”<\/p>\n

She put the letter in the bin and went about getting breakfast and preparing for her shower. Five minutes later she passed the bin again, saw the letter out of the corner of her eye, and took it out and put it on the grate and grabbed her wand from the corner of the mantel to point at it. “In–”<\/p>\n

There was a rap at the glass. It was the same owl. She blinked, then wrapped her dressing gown more tightly about her and went to the window.<\/p>\n

Hermione,<\/p>\n

This isn’t creepy, damn it. Answer the question.<\/p>\n

–Really. You want to answer. Really<\/em><\/p>\n

She took the letter into the kitchen to get another bit of bacon for the owl, then examined the letter more. Scrawled handwriting, this time, not so anonymously scary, but still, it was rather odd for an unidentified person to be asking. She got out a quill and turned the letter over.<\/p>\n

Anonymous,<\/p>\n

Stop asking.<\/em><\/p>\n

She sent the letter back with the owl and went up to turn on the water.<\/p>\n

Rap rap rap. There was the window. Upstairs window this time. She looked. Same bloody bird. “Now what?”<\/p>\n

It stuck out its leg and looked at her reproachfully. That’s what, it was clearly saying.<\/p>\n

She opened the window and let it in.<\/p>\n

Hermione,<\/p>\n

I swear. Come on. Answer the question. It won’t work if you don’t.<\/em><\/p>\n

“What won’t work?” She sighed and turned the parchment over, Summoning a quill from the study.<\/p>\n

I’m wearing my dressing gown, like everyone else readying for work. I don’t know why this is of interest. Leave me alone.<\/em><\/p>\n

She sent the owl back, and admonished, “And convince him–well, or her, but I imagine him–that’s enough, would you?” The owl hooted and hopped off the sill.<\/p>\n

She turned and started back into the bath, which was surely quite steamy by now, as she’d left the water running. The door was closed. She frowned. “What the–” She set her hand on the handle and turned, and then was startled when the door opened before her. “Charlie! What are you doing here?”<\/p>\n

“You finally answered. See, how am I supposed to offer to accessorize that, if you won’t tell me what you’re wearing?” He bent, slightly, and she shook her head.<\/p>\n

“What?”<\/p>\n

“I swear, I should have just gone with a straightforward question, but Ron said you’d like the. Anyway.” He was down on one knee now and holding out a box. “Well?”<\/p>\n

“What?” She took the box and opened it. “Oh. Accessor–oh!<\/em>” She blushed and nodded. “Right. Accessorize. Can you still do that if I take off the dressing gown?”<\/p>\n

“I imagine I’ll cope. That’s a yes, then?”<\/p>\n

“It is. Also, your brother is an idiot. A loveable one, but an idiot.”<\/p>\n

“I noticed. You’re not accessorizing. Let me help you.” He took the ring and slid it onto her finger. “There. All dressed.”<\/p>\n

“Probably not for going to work.”<\/p>\n

“No. But perfect for staying in.”<\/p>\n\n\n
